Search and rescue operations in Dingri County, part of China's Xizang Autonomous Region, have entered their final stage following a powerful magnitude-6.8 earthquake on Tuesday morning.
Hong Li, head of the regional emergency management department, announced at a press conference that efforts are now shifting towards resettling affected residents and initiating post-disaster reconstruction.
\"We are committed to leaving no stone unturned in searching for those still unaccounted for and providing medical treatment to the injured,\" Hong Li stated.
Over 10,000 rescuers have been deployed, leading to the rescue of 407 individuals, according to Wang Fanghong, mayor of Xigaze, the administrative region overseeing Dingri.
To accommodate the displaced, 187 resettlement sites have been established for 46,500 relocated residents. Additionally, all 484 tourists in Dingri, including 13 foreigners, have safely returned to Xigaze.
Central authorities have allocated a second batch of aid, including 20,000 items such as quilts and folding beds, 2,000 bunkhouses, and 200,000 winter supplies to support the quake-stricken areas.
