Dingri County Earthquake: High-Altitude Rescues Amid Freezing Temps

A powerful earthquake, measuring 6.8 in magnitude, struck Dingri County in Xigaze, located in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, on Tuesday morning. The quake tragically claimed 126 lives and left 188 people injured. 🕊️

In response, over 10,000 brave rescuers ventured into the harsh, freezing temperatures to search through the rubble. Their relentless efforts have now concluded with the end of the search and rescue phase. 🚒✨

Currently, the focus has shifted to resettling residents who were displaced by the disaster and kickstarting the reconstruction process to rebuild the community stronger than before. 🏗️❤️

Dingri County sits at an average altitude of 4,500 meters, nestled near the northern base camp of Mount Qomolangma, the world’s highest peak.
