Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has announced China’s commitment to building a resilient China-Africa community, emphasizing strong ties with Nigeria.
During a joint press conference with his Nigerian counterpart, Yusuf Tuggar, Wang highlighted China’s dedication to supporting Africa’s quest for modernization through the Global Security Initiative. He affirmed that the African people possess the wisdom and capability to solve their own challenges, reinforcing a partnership based on mutual respect and equality.
Wang outlined three major achievements in China-Nigeria relations:
- New Strategic Partnership: The two nations have elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
- Collaborative Platforms: The establishment of the China-Nigeria Intergovernmental Committee has enhanced cooperation.
- Enhanced International Cooperation: China and Nigeria are working closely on international and regional affairs to boost the development of the Global South.
Looking forward, Wang emphasized the importance of maintaining the strategic nature of their relationship, leveraging complementary strengths in areas like clean energy and green minerals finance. He expressed confidence that this comprehensive strategic partnership will continue to thrive, driving high-quality development and modernization across Africa.
