Harbin, the vibrant host city for the ninth Asian Winter Games, successfully wrapped up its second speed skating test event over the weekend. With these final drills, the preparations for the Games are nearly complete, setting the stage for an exciting sporting extravaganza starting on February 7.
The event featured 63 elite athletes from Heilongjiang Province, competing under the stringent standards of formal races. This included the use of official timing systems and gear, ensuring that everything is up to international competition standards.
Beyond the competitions, Harbin's local sports administration also launched comprehensive drills for essential non-competition aspects such as broadcasting, awards ceremonies, medical services, and spectator management. These efforts aim to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience for athletes and fans alike.
Among the highlights, Amitesh Mishra from India became the first foreign athlete to enter China with his Asian Winter Games registration card. Expressing his excitement, Mishra said, \"I am really looking forward to it (the Games), this is my second Asian Games. I think China generally does a great job hosting the event,\" during an interview with China Media Group (CMG).
Foreign athletes and their teams will have the flexibility to enter and exit China multiple times between January and March using their valid passports and Asian Winter Games registration cards, ensuring smooth travel arrangements throughout the event.
