Xizang Earthquake Relief: Shelter, Safety & Global Support 🌍🏠

A massive 6.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7, claiming 126 lives and displacing thousands. But amid freezing altitudes and icy temperatures, rescue efforts are heating up! 🔥

Over 13,000 makeshift board houses have been secured, with 5,152 already assembled to shelter residents. Electric stoves, heated blankets, and warm clothing are being distributed to combat sub-zero chills ❄️—critical in an area known as the 'roof of the world.'

Authorities are also tackling hidden risks: 3 reservoirs near the epicenter were drained after cracks were detected, while 1,500 people downstream of the La'ang Reservoir were evacuated to higher ground. 🏞️ 'Protecting lives is our top priority,' said emergency official Wei Jun.

Global solidarity shines bright: Donations totaling 1.64 billion yuan ($230M) have poured in worldwide 💰, with funds supporting relocation efforts and basic needs. Rescue teams even recovered nearly $1M in cash from rubble—talk about silver linings! 🌈

Dingri, home to Mount Qomolangma's northern base camp, is a symbol of resilience. As recovery continues, the world watches this high-altitude community rebuild—one shelter, one blanket, and one community effort at a time. 🙌
