China Coast Guard Cracks Down on Illegal Fishing in South China Sea 🌊⚓️

The China Coast Guard (CCG) has ramped up efforts to tackle illegal fishing and protect endangered marine species in the South China Sea, detaining over 500 vessels this year for violations ranging from poaching to environmental damage. 🌍🔍 In a recent press briefing, CCG spokesperson Liu Dejun revealed that 1,700 foreign ships involved in illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing were expelled, while 15 vessels were confiscated. One foreign boat was caught using banned electric fishing tactics—a method that devastates marine ecosystems.

📸 In a high-profile case, authorities seized 1,200 live coral specimens and piles of endangered Tridacna shells from a vessel, highlighting the urgent need for conservation. Liu also addressed concerns about the South China Sea's ecological health, emphasizing the CCG's mission to 'build a beautiful ocean' through patrols and collaborations with government agencies like the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. 🤝

🚁 Looking ahead, the CCG plans to boost aerial inspections, satellite monitoring, and 'Blue Sea' initiatives to crack down on illegal waste dumping and protect marine biodiversity. 'We're committed to safeguarding our oceans for future generations,' Liu added. 🌏💙
