The ninth Asian Winter Games is just days away from its grand opening ceremony in Harbin, located in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, on February 7. To ensure a seamless arrival experience for delegations, the organizing committee has introduced new services at Harbin Taiping International Airport.
When over forty members of the South Korean delegation touched down at Taiping Airport on Saturday afternoon, they quickly navigated through special channels designated for the Asian Winter Games. This swift entry was made possible by the new Arrivals & Departures Command Center set up by the organizing committee, which includes a dedicated service team to help athletes and officials clear customs smoothly and conveniently.
\"Athletes from a total of 34 countries and regions will participate in the ninth Asian Winter Games in Harbin,\" said Zhou Shengbin, deputy chief of the Arrivals & Departures Command Center. \"We have developed different measures, including setting up special channels for customs clearance and border inspection as well as baggage reclaim areas for overseas delegations. Registration and activation points are set up for international arrivals too. So, foreign tourists and delegations will have access to quick and considerate services when they arrive in Harbin.\"
On the same day, the Chinese mixed doubles curling pair Han Yu and Wang Zhiyu arrived at Taiping Airport. The duo, who teamed up in November, have been actively participating in several competitions to prepare for the newly-added curling event in the ninth edition of the Asian Winter Games.
The Kuwaiti delegation, comprising 33 athletes competing in seven disciplines, also made their entry. Their men's ice hockey team, which has been training since September, was warmly welcomed by Chinese organizers and volunteers. The deputy head of the delegation expressed gratitude to the host city for the excellent organization and warm hospitality.
