The Chinese naval fleet made a routine passage through the Basilan Strait on Monday, maintaining full compliance with international law and maritime practices, according to Tian Junli, a spokesperson for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Southern Theater Command.
The deployment involved both naval and air forces conducting training exercises in the high seas area of the Basilan Strait. Tian emphasized that these operations were carried out safely, following standardized procedures, and with a high level of professionalism.
Tian also addressed criticisms from the Philippine side, stating that the allegations against China’s fleet were baseless and aimed at undermining not only China’s legitimate navigation rights but also those of other nations. He urged for mutual respect and adherence to international maritime laws to prevent unnecessary tensions.
