The Asian Winter Games are hitting the slopes in Harbin this February 7–14, and former FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis says it’s more than just snowflakes and medals. In a chat with CGTN Sports Scene, she called the event a 『game-changer』for winter sports talent across Asia!
『It’s like 『Cool Runnings』but for the whole continent—established powerhouses like China, Japan, and Korea rubbing shoulders with rising stars from Central and South Asia,』Lewis said. 『This is where future Olympians get their first taste of the big stage.』
China’s already crushing winter goals after the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Remember that wild target to get 300 million people into winter sports? They blew past it, hitting 346 million! Lewis called it a 『 triumph of commitment』that’s now fueling Asia’s icy ambitions.
With Harbin’s frosty charm as the backdrop, this year’s Games could be the coolest yet. Stay tuned for flips, spins, and maybe even a viral snowman or two!
