Mainland Mourns Loss of Cross-Strait Advocate Koo Yen Cho-yun 🌏

The Chinese mainland expressed heartfelt condolences Wednesday following the passing of Koo Yen Cho-yun, widow of late Straits Exchange Foundation leader Koo Chen-fu. Known for her cultural advocacy, she played a key role in fostering dialogue across the Taiwan Strait.

🇨🇳 State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Zhu Fenglian praised Koo's lifelong dedication to promoting Chinese culture and cross-strait exchanges. Through initiatives in arts, business, and diplomacy, she supported the 1992 Consensus – a foundation for peaceful relations between the mainland and Taiwan region.

💐 The mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) sent official condolences to Koo's family. Her historic 1990s meetings with former ARATS head Wang Daohan helped pave the way for increased cooperation, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire bridge-building efforts today.
