CNOOC Kicks Off Bozhong 26-6: A Billion-Tonne Leap in Bohai Sea

🚀 Exciting news from the energy sector! China's state-owned giant, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), has kicked off production at its billion-tonne Bozhong 26-6 Oilfield Development Project (Phase I) in the northern Bohai Sea. 🌊

Located offshore in the central Bohai Bay with an average water depth of 20 meters, the project is set to achieve a peak production of around 22,300 barrels of oil equivalent daily by 2025. The oil produced is light crude, fueling various industries and markets. ⛽

The Phase I project boasts state-of-the-art production facilities, including a new central processing platform and an unmanned wellhead platform, showcasing CNOOC's commitment to innovative and efficient energy solutions. 🤖

\"For Phase I of the Bozhong 26-6 Oilfield Development Project, we plan to develop 33 wells and put them into production. The peak daily production of oil and gas equivalent is expected to exceed 3,500 cubic meters,\" said Liu Jingliang, director of Bozhong 26-6 Oilfield, CNOOC Tianjin Branch.

The oilfield's petroleum reservoir now holds an impressive 200 million cubic meters, making it the world's largest metamorphic oilfield. The reservoirs are nestled deep in seabed hills, thousands of meters below the surface, primarily composed of metamorphic rocks. 🏞️

Thanks to standardized engineering practices, it took only three years from discovery to production— a rapid timeline that effectively turns reserves into active energy production. 🔧

The Bohai Oilfield is a powerhouse in the region, with over 50 oil and gas fields in production and more than 200 production facilities. In 2024, the oil and gas production maintained steady growth, with crude oil production exceeding 30 million tonnes for three consecutive years, and cumulative oil and gas equivalent production surpassing 600 million tonnes. 📈

Continuing its momentum, the Bohai Oilfield has recently explored and discovered 6 billion-tonne oil and gas fields, further solidifying its role as a critical player in global energy. 💡
