China has slammed the U.S. State Department’s updated policy webpage, accusing it of distorting facts and undermining bilateral relations. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun called out the revisions—which emphasize the U.S.-China trade deficit and alleged “unfair competition”—as misleading and “politically motivated.”
“We strongly oppose these actions,” Guo said during a press briefing Thursday, stressing China’s commitment to mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation—principles outlined by Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
The updates reportedly amplify U.S. concerns about business challenges in China, but Guo argued the U.S. must “stop smearing China” and instead act on agreements made during recent talks between the two nations’ leaders. He urged Washington to prioritize stable, sustainable relations, warning that strategic competition rhetoric harms global progress.
Will this digital diplomacy clash cool tensions or heat up the rivalry? Stay tuned for updates.
