The Shanghai Sharks pulled off a major upset Friday night, defeating league-leading Guangsha Lions 92-88 in a nail-biter that handed the CBA giants their first losing streak of the season!
Led by Li Tianrong and NBA G League alum Kenneth Lofton Jr., Shanghai stormed ahead early with an 8-0 run. Guangsha—missing star guard Sun Minghui—fought back but couldn’t stop Sharks center Wang Zhelin from dominating the paint.
The game turned FIERY in the third quarter as Shanghai stretched their lead to 22 points! But Guangsha’s Hu Jinqiu and Zhao Jiaren rallied hard, cutting the deficit to 4 points with 15 seconds left. Their comeback fell short, though, leaving fans on the edge of their seats!
Other Friday highlights:
– Shanxi Looves shocked powerhouse Guangdong 117-115
– Liaoning Flying Leopards crushed Qingdao 121-93
– Beijing Ducks soared past Sichuan 99-83
