China’s push to integrate AI into every sector is reshaping the global tech landscape, with companies like DeepSeek leading the charge. During this year’s Two Sessions, the government doubled down on its "AI Plus initiative", spotlighting innovations that democratize access to cutting-edge tools.
From Code to Collaboration
Alibaba Cloud founder Wang Jian described the shift as moving from "open source code" to "open-resource innovation". DeepSeek’s decision to open its large language model to developers worldwide has been hailed as a game-changer. "Millions could innovate in ways we can’t even imagine," Wang told CGTN.
Boosting SMEs & Healthcare
Alibaba’s Qwen and Huawei’s HarmonyOS (now in smart devices ) are empowering small businesses with free foundational models. The tech wave is even reaching hospitals: one Anhui-based medical center uses DeepSeek’s AI to speed up diagnoses in rural areas.
"Intelligently Made in China"
Haier Group’s Zhou Yunjie sees AI as the key to transforming "Made in China" into "Intelligently Made". Meanwhile, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun pledged to embed AI into consumer gadgets for a "wonderful tech-driven life".
With 9.4 million software developers and 17% of global open-source projects, China’s tech ecosystem is booming—and the world is taking notes.
