Tensions in the South China Sea are rising—and China isn’t staying quiet about it. A Chinese military spokesperson has called out the Philippines for “stirring up trouble” in the disputed waters, warning against escalating regional instability.
“Relying on external forces to incite tensions is futile,” said Tian Junli of the People’s Liberation Army Southern Theater Command. His remarks follow routine PLA patrols in the area on Friday, seen as a signal of Beijing’s resolve.
The Philippines, according to Tian, has frequently teamed up with non-regional countries for “joint cruises” and unlawful maritime claims. Experts say this reflects Manila’s growing alignment with U.S. and other allies—a move Beijing views as a direct challenge. ⚠️
But the PLA’s stance is firm: China will “maintain a high level of alert” to protect sovereignty and regional stability. With patrols continuing and rhetoric heating up, the South China Sea remains a geopolitical hotspot to watch.
