Get ready for adrenaline-packed action! Beijing will host the Obstacle World Championships from 2025 to 2028, the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) announced this week. The competitions will take place at the iconic 2008 Summer Olympics sports complex – think Ninja Warrior meets Olympic legacy!
This marks obstacle racing’s official entry as a modern pentathlon discipline, blending urban grit with elite athleticism. The first championship in October 2025 will pit pentathletes (who typically master fencing, swimming, and horseback riding) against obstacle specialists in a clash of speed, strategy, and strength.
UIPM President Rob Stull called it a “game-changer,” adding: “This isn’t just about new events – it’s about creating a global stage for this thrilling sport.” With TikTok-ready challenges and next-gen competitor drama, Beijing’s obstacle courses could become Gen Z’s new obsession.
