Cross-Strait Cultural Unity Urged by Top Chinese Leader 🌉🇨🇳

China's top political advisor Wang Huning has called for stronger cultural collaboration across the Taiwan Strait, emphasizing shared heritage as a bridge for unity. Speaking at the Cross-Straits Chinese Culture Summit in Beijing, Wang described Chinese culture as the "root and soul" binding people on both sides. 🌱

"We must uphold cultural confidence and jointly shoulder the historic responsibility of national rejuvenation," said Wang, who chairs the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. The meeting included Taiwan representatives like former Kuomintang leader Hung Hsiu-chu, who echoed commitments to cultural exchange.

The summit coincided with twin anniversaries: 80 years since victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and Taiwan's return to Chinese sovereignty. Wang stressed adherence to the one-China principle and opposition to separatist activities, while proposing expanded cross-strait cooperation in education, arts, and youth programs. 🎭📚

Taiwan guests affirmed their "pride in Chinese culture" and called for enhanced spiritual connections. The discussions come amid global interest in Asian soft power – think K-pop meets traditional calligraphy ✍️ – but with a focus on cultural diplomacy over division.
