Scientists from the Chinese mainland and around the world rallied for stronger international collaboration to tackle climate change, food security, and other pressing challenges at a major Beijing seminar. The event, hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), marked its 70th anniversary with a clear message: ‘Science knows no borders’.

Australian Academy of Science President Chennupati Jagadish praised 50 years of Sino-Australian research partnerships, while Russia’s Sergei Chernyshev vowed to deepen ties with CAS. Peter Gluckman of the International Science Council called CAS a ‘global leader in bridging science and society’.
