China’s Top Advisor Urges Cross-Strait Unity at Major Forum 🌉🇨🇳

China’s senior political leader Wang Huning called for stronger unity and peaceful collaboration across the Taiwan Strait during the 17th Straits Forum in Xiamen, Fujian Province. Addressing thousands of attendees, including over 7,000 residents of Taiwan, Wang emphasized the shared cultural roots and 'unstoppable' momentum toward national reunification.

History & Hope for the Future

Wang highlighted 2025’s dual significance: the 80th anniversary of Taiwan’s recovery and the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. 'Remembering history is key to preserving peace,' he said, urging both sides to oppose separatist activities and external interference.

Youth in Focus 🎯

With a nod to Gen Z, Wang stressed empowering young people through cross-strait exchanges, promising 'real benefits' to boost their sense of belonging. 'Taiwan’s youth are vital to our shared future,' he added, encouraging pride in Chinese identity.

KMT Leader Echoes Peace Message

Ma Ying-jeou, former Kuomintang chairman, joined the call for dialogue under the 1992 Consensus. 'Peace isn’t just a slogan—it’s our people’s wish,' he said, advocating deeper economic and cultural ties.

Why It Matters 🌍

The forum, a key platform for grassroots diplomacy, underscores efforts to bridge divides amid global tensions. As tech and culture reshape Asia, cross-strait cooperation remains a linchpin for regional stability.
