Kenyan Student’s Letter to Xi Jinping Highlights BRI Impact 🌍✉️

Two years ago, 40 Kenyan students studying in China did something extraordinary: they wrote a heartfelt letter to President Xi Jinping to mark the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). At a recent Global Civilization Dialogue event, Jamlick Kariuki, one of the students from Beijing Jiaotong University, shared the inspiring story behind this gesture—and the symbolic train ticket he enclosed.

🚄 "The ticket wasn’t just paper—it represented how the BRI connected my future to opportunities here," Kariuki explained. The students’ letter thanked China for scholarships and infrastructure projects in Kenya, like the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, which has created jobs and boosted local economies.

🌟 The BRI, often dubbed the 'modern Silk Road,' has fueled cross-cultural exchanges and education partnerships. For Kariuki and his peers, it’s more than policy—it’s a bridge linking dreams across continents. "We wanted President Xi to know how this initiative changed our lives," he said.

🌏 Stories like this remind us that global cooperation isn’t just about trade deals—it’s about people, shared growth, and the next generation writing their own futures.
