From Joshua to Lao Tan: An American’s Journey of Impact in China 🚴♂️❤️

Meet Lao Tan – the Beijing-based American whose passion for public service is redefining cross-cultural connections. 🇺🇸🇨🇳 Once known as Joshua, this Peking University alum traded textbooks for hutongs, mastering Mandarin so flawlessly locals joke he’s “more Beijing than baozi.”

His life changed after bonding with spinal injury survivors in 2017. 💡 “Why not use handcycles as bridges?” he thought – sparking the Krankin’ thru China movement. From creating accessible experience centers to completing an epic 5,800km handcycle journey (think: Marco Polo meets Marvel’s Daredevil 🦸), Lao Tan proves one person’s vision can create ripples of change.

“It’s not about wheels – it’s about breaking barriers,” he says, his WeChat moments filled with smiling participants. 🌈 Whether navigating ancient alleys or modern cities, Lao Tan embodies what happens when cultural curiosity meets grassroots action. Talk about rolling with purpose! 🛠️
