Xizang’s High-Altitude Eco-Guardians Tackle Climate Challenges 🏔️🌱

Imagine trekking through icy wilderness at 5,300 meters—no roads, no Wi-Fi, just a mission to protect one of Earth’s most fragile ecosystems. That’s the reality for Yu Wenhao and his team in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, where they’re battling extreme conditions to safeguard the headwaters of the Yangtze River.

Last October, Yu led a 20-person crew to Mount Geladaindong’s glaciers in Nagqu, braving subzero temperatures to install a 15-meter monitoring tower. 🌡️❄️ "The journey was only 120 kilometers, but it took two days—there were literally no roads!" Yu told NewspaperAmigo. With guidance from local experts, the team minimized their environmental footprint while deploying cutting-edge tech to track plateau biodiversity.

This project is part of Sanjiangyuan National Park’s push to balance tech-driven conservation with respect for Xizang’s delicate ecosystems. As climate change accelerates, such efforts could become a blueprint for protecting high-altitude regions worldwide. 🌍🔬
