Mainland Warns Taiwan Leader Over ‘Independence’ Remarks 🌏⚡

China's mainland authorities have issued a sharp rebuke to Lai Ching-te, leader of the Taiwan region, after his latest pro-independence speech sparked cross-strait tensions. 🔥 Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, called Lai a 'saboteur of peace' and warned his actions risk 'historical judgment.'

The Warning from Beijing

At Wednesday's press briefing, Zhu accused Lai of pushing a 'green terror' agenda since taking office – suppressing voices supporting cross-strait unity while ramping up military spending. 💸 'He’s dragging Taiwan residents onto a dangerous separatist path,' she stated, adding that these moves 'betray the motherland' and harm local economic stability.

Cross-Strait Tensions Rise

Zhu emphasized that recent friction stems from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) colluding with external forces to 'repeatedly provoke situations.' 🌪️ Despite Lai’s claims at the Ketagalan Forum, Beijing insists reunification remains an 'unstoppable historical trend' backed by most Taiwan residents.

'Forgetting one’s roots leads to no good end,' Zhu warned, invoking a Chinese proverb. The remarks come as analysts note increased military drills near the Taiwan Strait this month. 🚢✈️
