Typhoon Kajiki Hits South China: Coastal Provinces on High Alert 🌪️

South China’s coastal regions are bracing for impact as Typhoon Kajiki, the 13th typhoon of 2024, barrels toward the Chinese mainland. Authorities in Guangxi and Hainan have activated emergency protocols, with ports closing and rescue teams on standby. 🚨

Guangxi’s maritime safety teams deployed patrol vessels to guide ships back to shore, while Hainan’s capital, Haikou, shut down three major ports by Saturday evening. The typhoon, packing winds of 18 meters per second, is expected to strengthen as it approaches Hainan Island by Sunday night. 🌧️

"We’re prioritizing public safety and minimizing economic disruption," said a spokesperson from the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, which escalated its response to Level-IV—the second-lowest tier in China’s four-stage emergency system. A specialized team has also been dispatched to Hainan to coordinate disaster relief.

Typhoon Kajiki formed rapidly from a tropical depression over the South China Sea, currently moving west-northwest at 25 km/h (think: faster than your morning commute 🚗💨). If it maintains its path, it could skirt Hainan’s southern coast before heading toward Vietnam.

Residents are advised to stay updated via official channels and avoid coastal areas. For travelers in the region: check local advisories before heading out! 🌍✈️
