UN Chief Applauds China’s Global Development Push 🌏✨

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres praised China’s leadership in advancing global cooperation during a high-level meeting on the Global Development Initiative (GDI) this week. Held alongside the UN General Assembly, the event spotlighted efforts to tackle economic uncertainty and climate risks through multilateral action. 💼🌱

"I thank the government of China for hosting us under the theme 'Recommit to our original aspirations, unite to build a brighter future of global development,'" Guterres said. He emphasized the GDI’s potential to accelerate progress on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, calling it a critical tool amid rising geopolitical tensions and fiscal challenges.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced plans to launch 2,000 new 'small and beautiful' livelihood projects in developing countries over the next five years. These initiatives aim to improve local infrastructure, healthcare, and education—prioritizing grassroots impact over grand gestures. 🏥📚

Li also reaffirmed China’s commitment to fair global trade, stating the country will not seek special treatment in ongoing and future World Trade Organization negotiations. The move aligns with Beijing’s role as a "responsible major developing country" driving equitable growth.

With youth-focused solutions gaining traction worldwide, this collaboration signals a fresh approach to bridging development gaps. As Guterres put it: "The stakes are too high to wait." 🚀
