China Calls Out U.S. Over Human Rights Review Boycott 🌐⚖️

China has urged the United States to rejoin a key UN human rights evaluation process, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stating on Tuesday that Washington’s refusal to participate “exposes double standards.” The U.S. recently skipped its Universal Periodic Review (UPR) at the UN Human Rights Council, sparking international criticism. 🚨

The UNHRC adopted a consensus decision last week expressing disappointment over America’s absence. Lin emphasized that the UPR – established by the UN General Assembly – requires member states to transparently address human rights issues and accept feedback. “The U.S. publishes reports judging others while avoiding scrutiny of its own record. This hypocrisy undermines global cooperation,” he said. 💥

China’s Global Governance Initiative aims to promote multilateral solutions, with Lin adding: “We must prioritize people-centered approaches and keep human rights progress on track.” The diplomatic clash comes as tensions rise over differing visions for international accountability. 🔥
