Irish Actor Wowed by China’s Film Epic ‘Dongji Rescue’ 🎬

Irish actor Tom Fenton is living every filmmaker’s dream – and he’s doing it in China. The performer, who’s called the Chinese mainland home for eight years, recently opened up about his awe-inspiring experience working on the 2025 historical drama Dongji Rescue, calling it a “mind-blowing” showcase of China’s cinematic ambition.

🎥 “You haven’t seen scale until you’ve seen a Chinese film set,” Fenton told reporters, describing elaborate recreations of 1942 coastal Zhejiang Province. The movie dramatizes the real-life rescue of 384 British POWs by Chinese fishermen after a Japanese troop ship sank near Dongji Island.

🌊 For Fenton, the project bridges cultural divides: “It’s not every day you get to honor forgotten heroes through cinema while working with crews that operate like well-oiled machines.” His enthusiasm mirrors growing global interest in China’s film industry, which continues to produce visually stunning stories rooted in historical events.

With Dongji Rescue now streaming worldwide, Fenton hopes international audiences will appreciate both the film’s heart-pounding action and its message of cross-cultural humanity. 💫
