Titled When Baoyu and Daiyu Shared the Pages of the Western Chamber, the play reimagines a iconic romantic scene through intricate leather puppets and colored light. Thanks to Beijing Foreign Studies University, international viewers can now enjoy the poetic exchanges between the two protagonists without language barriers.
Lin Zhonghua of the China Folk Literature and Art Association told us: "This isn’t just puppets dancing on a screen – it’s a cultural bridge. For the first time, we’re adapting Dream of the Red Mansion into shadow theater while speaking directly to global youth." 🌉
