Paleontologists have struck gold in Sichuan Province! Over 20 dinosaur and reptile footprints – preserved for 200 million years – were recently discovered on a rocky cliffside near Dujiangyan. The tracks, first spotted by a hiker in November 2025, include both meat-eating theropod prints and rare hand-like chirotherian marks left by ancient archosaurs.
🔍 Led by Prof. Xing Lida, researchers confirmed this is Dujiangyan's first-ever dino track discovery. 'We've found footprints across four distinct layers,' Xing told NewspaperAmigo. 'This wasn't a quick pit stop – dinosaurs thrived here for generations!'
🌳 The site also revealed petrified forest remnants – fossilized logs and tree stumps that paint a vivid Jurassic-era landscape. Zigong Dinosaur Museum researcher Jiang Shan notes this find could rewrite what we know about early dinosaur evolution in Asia.
While tourists aren't allowed at the sensitive site yet, 3D scans may soon let you 'walk' alongside these prehistoric giants virtually! 🦖✨
