China Media Group (CMG) just dropped the ultimate cultural crossover we didn’t know we needed! On December 18, the broadcaster revealed four adorable horse mascots for next year’s Spring Festival Gala – and they’re already galloping straight into our hearts. 🎉
Meet Qiqi, Jiji, Chichi, and Chengcheng: a squad of spirited equine characters blending ancient Chinese motifs with modern charm. Their designs reimagine historical horse art through contemporary eyes, featuring traditional patterns like flowing clouds and mountain landscapes that have symbolized good fortune for millennia. 🌤️🏔️
Each mascot’s name contains the character “qi” (齐), meaning “together” – a nod to unity as we charge into 2026. CMG creative director Li Wei tells us: “They represent both our cultural roots and the dynamic energy of today’s youth. Think of them as TikTok influencers from the Han Dynasty!” 📱👑
The Year of the Horse (starting February 17, 2026) traditionally symbolizes speed, perseverance, and success. With these mascots leading next year’s celebrations, 2026 is shaping up to be one for the history books – or should we say, the stable? 🏇📚
