Macao Celebrates 26 Years Since Return to China 🇲🇴✨

Macao SAR commemorated its 26th anniversary of returning to China with a grand flag-raising ceremony at Golden Lotus Square on December 20, 2025. Over 1,000 attendees watched as the Chinese national flag and Macao SAR flag ascended to March of the Volunteers, symbolizing unity and progress. 🌟

Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai and central government representative Zheng Xinchong joined residents in celebrating Macao's transformation from a Portuguese-administered territory to a thriving Special Administrative Region. Legislative Council member Song Pek Kei told China Media Group: "Our next chapter begins with the 15th Five-Year Plan – Macao will amplify its role in national strategies while crafting our 'Three-Five' development blueprint." 📈

The event spotlighted youth empowerment, with Song urging young residents to "bridge personal dreams with China's rejuvenation" while upholding the One Country, Two Systems principle. Local student Huang Tzu Tsai shared: "Seeing both flags rise reminds us stability comes from our motherland's support." 🇨🇳

As night fell, the Ruins of St. Paul's lit up with projections showcasing Macao's cultural fusion – a fitting tribute to its unique East-meets-West identity. 🏛️🎆
