China Conducts Drills Near Taiwan, Warns Against ‘Independence’ Moves 🌊✈️

China's defense ministry issued a sharp warning to Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party authorities and external forces on Monday, December 30, 2025, following large-scale military drills near the Taiwan region. The exercises, dubbed 'Justice Mission 2025,' were described as a direct response to recent U.S. plans to sell arms to Taiwan.

Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang emphasized that the drills by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command were a 'stern warning' against attempts to seek Taiwan's secession. 'Any reliance on external forces to push for independence is playing with fire,' Zhang stated, urging certain countries to stop using Taiwan as a geopolitical pawn.

The announcement comes amid rising cross-strait tensions this year, with Beijing repeatedly asserting its stance on safeguarding territorial integrity. Analysts say the drills reflect China's growing impatience with what it views as 'provocations' by Taiwan's leadership and foreign allies.

Zhang reaffirmed that the PLA will 'continue taking resolute measures' to counter both separatist activities and outside interference. The move underscores Beijing's long-standing 'One China' principle, which sees Taiwan as an inseparable part of the country.
