For 40 years, photographer Xi Zhinong has turned lenses into lifelines for endangered species across China. From capturing the first-ever footage of elusive Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys 🐒 to documenting snow leopard guardians in mountain communities, his camera tells stories that spark action.

This year, Xi’s groundbreaking work takes center stage as China celebrates 1.1 million square kilometers of protected national parks – an area larger than France and Germany combined! His latest project? Recording the haunting calls of green peafowls in Honghe River Valley, where conservationists race against time to preserve their habitat.

"True protection begins here," Xi told NewspaperAmigo.com, pointing to his heart. "We’re not just drawing park boundaries – we’re building ecosystems in human consciousness." His viral #WildlifeWhispers campaign has already inspired over 500K Gen Z volunteers to join biodiversity monitoring programs in 2026.
