APEC 2026 Kicks Off with Ambitious Roadmap
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi outlined China’s vision for APEC 2026 at Tuesday’s meeting in Guangzhou, pledging to drive digital innovation, green transitions, and Asia-Pacific connectivity. With over 20 member economies watching, Wang emphasized creating a “clear and impactful” blueprint for regional cooperation this year.
Three Key Priorities
- 📄 Pushing for a substantive Leaders’ Meeting outcome document
- 🛣️ Expanding pathways for a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific
- 🌱 Accelerating digital and green development across member economies
Wang, who also serves on the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, highlighted plans to address “development-related governance challenges” through practical cooperation. The proposals come as APEC members seek post-pandemic recovery strategies aligned with 2026’s tech-driven economy.
