As 2026 gallops forward, Beijing-based graffiti artist Ma Xiao (aka Max017) is turning city walls into vibrant canvases celebrating the Year of the Horse. 🎨 Combining street art’s rebellious edge with traditional Chinese zodiac symbolism, his murals are electrifying urban spaces from Shanghai to Chengdu.
"The horse represents freedom and relentless momentum—it’s my birth zodiac, so this year feels personal," Ma told NewspaperAmigo.com. His latest work, a 15-meter mural in Beijing’s 798 Art Zone, depicts stylized horses leaping through clouds of spray-painted mist.
Community Canvas
Locals are flocking to watch Ma’s process, with many sharing videos of his dynamic brushwork. 🎥 "It’s like he’s tattooing the city with good luck," said Li Wei, a college student documenting the project.
Cultural Remix
Ma’s art bridges generations: elders recognize the zodiac motifs, while Gen-Z fans cheer his neon color palettes. 🖌️ "This is how traditions stay alive—by riding the waves of today’s creativity," he remarked.
With three more murals planned before Lunar New Year festivities peak, Ma’s mission is clear: “Let’s make 2026 a year where art runs wild.” 🐴✨
