Hainan Province just delivered a next-level Spring Festival experience as the Year of the Horse galloped in! 🌟 From sunrise lantern ceremonies to midnight stargazing parties, the tropical island transformed into a 24/7 cultural playground this February 2026.
Tourists and locals alike enjoyed:
- Traditional lion dances fused with K-pop beats 🦁🎶
- Augmented reality treasure hunts at ancient temples 📱🏯
- Floating night markets serving Hainan chicken rice and vegan baozi 🥢🌱
"We wanted to create something that honors our roots while speaking to Gen-Z travelers," said event coordinator Li Meiying, 28, during a dragon boat photo op. 📸 The celebrations strategically coincided with the province’s push to become a top 5 global winter destination by 2027.
With direct flights now connecting Haikou to 12 new international cities, this year’s festival saw record numbers of overseas visitors – especially from Southeast Asia and Europe. 🌏✈️
