Meet Chu Wenwen: China’s Beaver Guardian Inspiring Eco-Action 🌿✨

Move over, TikTok influencers – China’s youth are rallying behind a new kind of star: beavers! 🦫 These furry ecosystem engineers are transforming wetlands across the Chinese mainland, thanks to 28-year-old conservationist Chu Wenwen and her viral #BeaverBrigade movement.

From Internet Fame to Field Work

Chu, dubbed 'Nature’s Hype Woman' by fans, combines drone footage of beaver dams with memes about biodiversity to make ecology irresistible to Gen-Z. Her latest project? Training 1,000 volunteers this year to monitor beaver populations in Xinjiang’s wild rivers.

Why Beavers Matter

🔍 Wetland Restoration: Beaver dams naturally filter water and prevent droughts
🐟 Biodiversity Boost: 60% increase in fish species observed in dam areas since 2023
🌱 Climate Action: Each wetland absorbs CO2 equivalent to 300 urban trees

📱 "Young people think conservation is boring until you show them baby beavers doing backflips," Chu told us during a recent livestream from her field station.
