Celebrate Tibetan New Year in Lhasa: A Cultural Journey 🎉

While most of us marked March 1 as 2026's new year, Tibetans recently celebrated Losar – their lunar new year – with vibrant traditions in the Xizang Autonomous Region. Beijing vlogger Wang Ziharo gave followers a front-row seat to this cultural spectacle through his immersive Lhasa experience. 📸

This year's Losar festivities (February 18-March 4) saw families gathering for guthuk noodle soup rituals to dispel negativity and changkol wine offerings to local deities. Wang joined his Tibetan friend's family in decorating homes with colorful barley flour patterns and exchanging khatas (ceremonial scarves) as blessings. 🧣

"The energy here makes Times Square's NYE look tame," Wang joked in his viral vlog, showing crowds dancing to gar folk songs near Potala Palace. Pro tip from locals: Don't miss the butter sculpture displays at Drepung Monastery! 🏔️
