From Cracked Blackboards to Solar Panels: A School Reborn
Muangxay Secondary School in northern Laos has reopened with a futuristic twist after a six-month makeover funded by China’s CGN energy company. The project, completed this week, blends modern classrooms with rooftop solar tech – proving sustainability and education go hand-in-hand 🌱📚.
‘No More Broken Desks!’
Principal Chanpheng Panyasack recalls pre-renovation struggles: "Even our blackboards were cracked." Now, students enjoy weatherproof basketball courts, 10+ sunlit classrooms, and desks for all. One 17-year-old cheered: "We’re actually excited to study now!"
Powering Minds (and Lights)
The real star? Photovoltaic glass roofs made in China! These solar panels slash energy costs while teaching kids about green power. "It’s science class come to life," said a CGN official.
China-Laos Friendship Goals
CGN’s Jia Xianyu called this part of their "Firefly Project" to spark global education ties. Local governor Souvath Mahavongsanan praised the upgrade as a win for both Laos’ energy transition and cross-border friendship 🤝.
💡 Did you know? The solar base’s first phase launched last December, creating thousands of local jobs! More phases aim to turn Laos’ sunshine into economic growth ☀️→💸.
