China Boosts UN Peacekeeping, Vows Global Responsibility 🌍✌️

China is doubling down on its role as a global peacekeeper, with defense officials highlighting its growing contributions to UN missions. At a press briefing this week, Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Jiang Bin emphasized that China's peacekeeping efforts—spanning 34 years and 26 missions—reflect its commitment to "global responsibility."

From South Sudan to the Congo

Over 1,600 Chinese peacekeepers are currently deployed in hotspots like Lebanon and South Sudan, where Major General Wu Junhui was recently appointed UN Force Commander. Their tasks range from de-mining operations to protecting civilians—a mission that’s cost 17 Chinese lives since 1990.

By the Numbers 📊

• 50,000+ peacekeepers sent worldwide
• 2nd-largest financial contributor to UN peacekeeping
• Key roles in medical rescue and explosive disposal

Jiang noted that China’s "professional and disciplined" teams are increasingly trusted with leadership positions. As a permanent UN Security Council member, China plans to deepen international cooperation and invest further in peacekeeping—proving it’s not just about soft power, but real boots on the ground. 👢🌏
