China-Laos Railway Hits 80M Tonnes Milestone 🚂🌏

The China-Laos Railway has officially transported over 80 million tonnes of cargo since its 2021 launch, marking a major win for regional trade. 🌟 A freight train departing Kunming this week pushed volumes past the milestone, with cross-border shipments alone exceeding 18 million tonnes.

Operated by China Railway Kunming Group, the 1,000+ km line now runs up to 23 freight trains daily—a massive jump from just two trains when services began. Over 71,000 freight trips have been completed to date, connecting the Chinese mainland to Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and beyond.

What’s moving? From humble beginnings with fertilizers and rubber, the railway now carries 3,800+ product types including electronics, textiles, and minerals. 📦 This year alone, 5.64 million tonnes have been shipped, fueling economic growth across 19 countries and regions.

Dubbed the 'Steel Silk Road,' this project is reshaping ASEAN trade networks. With 20,000+ international freight trains dispatched, it’s clear: when infrastructure and ambition collide, everyone wins. 💥
