US Firms Boost Ties with China’s Greater Bay Area in 2026

🚀 A high-profile delegation of US companies just wrapped up a three-day visit to China’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), signaling strong confidence in the region’s booming innovation and market potential. The trip, led by the US-China Business Council (USCBC), included giants like Procter & Gamble, Pfizer, and Cisco, and ran from April 8 to 10—marking the council’s largest-ever delegation to the area.

Why the GBA? 🌉

With its mix of cutting-edge tech, thriving consumer markets, and business-friendly policies, the GBA is no longer just a manufacturing hub. Sean Stein, USCBC president, called it a 'platform' for global competitiveness, highlighting how US firms aim to tap into Guangdong’s innovation ecosystem. Medtronic’s Cao Shan added that after 37 years in China, the company now wants to co-build local tech solutions, especially through pilot projects in the region.

Westlake Corporation’s Pang Xiongying praised Guangdong’s advanced auto industry and AI hardware, noting plans to export these innovations worldwide. The visit also showcased sectors like biomedicine and fintech, reflecting the GBA’s role as a testing ground for next-gen tech.

A Bridge for Global Biz 🌍

As one of China’s most dynamic regions, the GBA is drawing global players eager to share in its growth. With 2026’s focus on tech-driven consumption, this visit underscores how cross-border collaboration is shaping the future—one smart factory at a time.
