Kuwait’s China Cultural Center transformed into a vibrant hub of cross-cultural connection this week during its Chinese Culture Experience Day. From mesmerizing traditional dances to hands-on cultural workshops, the event offered a lively snapshot of China’s rich heritage—and proved art truly is a universal language.
Attendees, including diplomats’ spouses and local residents, were treated to a dynamic lineup curated by Miao Haiyan, wife of China’s ambassador to Kuwait. \"This is about sharing the heartbeat of our culture,\" she remarked, as participants tried their hand at calligraphy and savored iconic teas.
The showstopper? A high-energy performance by artists from northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Their Muqam dance—a UNESCO-recognized art form—paired with rhythmic hand drum routines and soulful folk songs, drew cheers and even spontaneous dance-alongs.
Xia Jianfeng, director of the China Cultural Center, highlighted the event’s mission: \"When we exchange culture, we build bridges. Every drumbeat and brushstroke helps us understand each other better.\"
