Government officials and media leaders from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states gathered in Astana this week to explore deeper collaboration in storytelling and global communication. Held ahead of the SCO's 24th Heads of State summit, the roundtable emphasized unifying media efforts to amplify the Shanghai Spirit – the bloc’s ethos of mutual trust and cultural exchange.
Hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the event highlighted successful joint projects across the SCO’s Eurasian network. “Media can build bridges through authentic human stories,” said CMG President Shen Haixiong, urging partners to create content that fosters cross-cultural understanding and counters misinformation.
Key proposals included expanding digital platforms for youth audiences , co-producing documentaries on regional traditions
, and establishing shared news verification systems. With millennials and Gen Z driving media consumption, these initiatives aim to blend SCO values with TikTok-speed relevance
