Kimi’s Epic Swim: How China’s Tech Tracks Sea Turtle Journeys 🌊🐢

Meet Kimi, a green sea turtle with a mission—and a high-tech tracker. Released in 2018 by the China Fishery Law Enforcement in Sanya, Hainan, Kimi (tag #34474) became part of a groundbreaking project to study marine life. Alongside four other #TurtleSquad members, she was equipped with a satellite device to map her migratory path, turning her into a real-life ocean explorer! 🌍

Her journey? Nothing short of epic. By mid-June, Kimi reached the Qilianyu Archipelago, part of the Xisha Xuande Islands. By September, she swam to the Huidong Sea Turtle National Nature Reserve in Guangdong—a vital nesting site with a flat seabed and buffet-like food supply. Researchers say this area is the 'last safe haven' for sea turtles along China’s coastline.

This World Turtle Day initiative highlights China’s push to blend tech and conservation. Every time Kimi surfaces, her tracker sends data, creating a GPS-style roadmap to protect endangered species. 🛰️ Scientists hope her travels will inspire global efforts to save marine ecosystems. After all, if turtles could talk, Kimi’s story would be a blockbuster! 🎬
