Imagine swapping textbooks for sheet music and lecture halls for concert stages 🎼—that’s exactly what 30 students from Tsinghua University and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology did this August. Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, the Xin Tsing Friends’ Beijing-Hong Kong Students Tsinghua Summer Music Camp turned collaboration into a symphony of cultural connection.
From August 13-19, the camp buzzed with rehearsals led by star violinist Lv Siqing, who’s prepping the group for a grand finale concert. Organizer Wallace Lee told CGTN’s Enoch Wong the goal was ‘harmony beyond notes’—and Hong Kong participant Alex Chan agreed: ‘At first, we fumbled rhythms, but now we finish each other’s musical phrases. It’s like we’re speaking one language.’
Beyond the instruments? Late-night bubble tea runs 🧋, Mandarin-Cantonese slang swaps, and debates about Jay Chou vs. Eason Chan hits. As Tsinghua student Li Wei put it: ‘We’re not just building playlists—we’re building bridges.’
With cross-regional ties strengthening through art, this camp hits all the right notes for a generation tuning into unity. 🎵✨
