Get ready for a symphony of cultural harmony! Wuxi, a city in the Chinese mainland’s Jiangsu Province, is set to host its International Ethnic Music Festival from November 18-23, 2024. The event celebrates the iconic melody Erquan Yingyue (The Moon Reflected on the Er-quan Spring), a soul-stirring erhu masterpiece by late Wuxi musician Hua Yanjun (Abing), now synonymous with the city’s identity.
🌏 Over 200 artists from 30+ countries and regions will perform traditional and fusion pieces, blending global sounds with Jiangnan-style folk music. Think Mongolian throat singing meets electronic beats, or African drums jamming with Chinese guqin! The festival also includes workshops, street performances, and a digital art exhibition exploring music’s role in bridging cultures.
🗣️ 'This isn’t just a concert series – it’s a dialogue,' says festival organizer Li Mei. 'We’re using Abing’s legacy to spark connections between generations and continents.' Local officials highlight Wuxi’s push to become a hub for creative tourism, with free livestreams planned for global audiences.
