Shanghai’s Historic Complex ‘Walks’ Home with 400 Robots 🏗️🤖

In a feat that blends ancient heritage with cutting-edge tech, Shanghai’s 140-year-old Huayanli Shikumen complex just completed a 7,500-tonne ‘walk’ back to its original location – powered by 432 robots! 🚀 The 4,000-sqm architectural gem, part of the iconic Zhangyuan district, was temporarily relocated during neighborhood revitalization efforts.

Starting May 19, robotic walkers beneath the foundation moved the structure at a snail’s pace of 10 meters per day, completing the journey by June 7. Imagine a building doing the robot dance – but slower and way more precise! 💃🤖

This engineering marvel preserves Shanghai’s largest collection of Shikumen (‘stone gate’) houses, blending Western and Chinese design. The project shows how cities can protect history while embracing innovation – no time machines required! ⏳✨
