China Media Group Launches Global Film Carnival to Boost Tourism 🎥🌍

China Media Group unveiled an ambitious film-tourism fusion project on April 4, 2026, blending blockbuster magic with cultural exploration. The initiative aims to transform iconic Chinese locations featured in movies into must-visit destinations for international travelers. 🎬✈️

Through immersive augmented reality tours and live film-set experiences, visitors can now walk through the misty mountains of Zhangjiajie that inspired Avatar or explore Xi'an's ancient city walls featured in historical epics. The program partners with major studios to create limited-time events at filming locations across the Chinese mainland.

'This isn't just about ticket sales – it's cultural storytelling,' said project director Li Wei during the announcement. 'When tourists stand where cinematic moments were created, they become part of China's modern narrative.'

The carnival comes as China's tourism sector shows 18% growth in Q1 2026, with Gen Z travelers driving demand for Instagram-ready experiences. Early collaborations include interactive exhibits from China's top-grossing sci-fi franchises and food tours featuring regional delicacies from popular streaming dramas.
