This fusion of geometry symbolizes harmony between heaven and earth, a concept central to Chinese philosophy.
The name 'Shan Shui' (mountains and lakes) reflects nature’s beauty, while intricate patterns on the medals mimic flowing rivers and rolling peaks. Zhang’s team used 3D printing and laser engraving to bring these age-old symbols to life, proving tradition and tech can coexist.
For athletes and fans, the medals aren’t just trophies—they’re wearable art celebrating Asia’s rich heritage. As one designer put it: 'We wanted every winner to carry a piece of our shared history.'
